Financial problems have grounded loss-making airline Spanair, for good. This weekend alone 380 domestic and international flights with the Barcelona-based firm have been cancelled.
Its main shareholder, Catalonia's regional government, says it can no longer provide funds and prospective buyer Qatar Airways has walked away.
One man at Barcelona airport said his suitcase had been checked-in but nobody knew where it is after Spanair ground staff apparently disappeared.
"All we can do is complain," a female passenger said. "As a company, they can't manage anything, not the relocation of passengers, not looking for other flights for them, nothing."
