Meliá Hotels International, first Spanish hotels group and first holiday one worlwide, projects to transform Magalluf in a luxury destination with the full reform of its hotels in the area, and the support of local authorities.
Meliá will renew the hotels Sol Antillas Barbados Sol Jamaica, Sol Trinidad and Royal Beach, and pretends to attract to the area world leader leisure groups like Nikki Beach and one-star Michelin restaurants.
The regional Government and the City Hall will support the project with giving priority to licenses issues. Balearic Government will allow changes of real state uses and the local administration will promote a new boulevard in Magaluff.
The first steps of the project would be seen in 2012. The complete renovation of the are is expected between 2015 and 2017. Magalluf is surrounded by a luxurious tourism offer with three first class marinas, like Portals, the Port Adriano and Santa Ponsa, and hotels like Mardavall, Maricel and Meliá de Mar.
The project called Sol Calviá Resort will also serve to reposition the brand 'Sol' of Meliá, whose prestige will rise linked the successful completion of the facelift of one of the mains destination of Majorca.
